Pastor Juandolyn Stokes
Pastor Juandolyn Stokes spent most of her early life in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, where she was nurtured in her Christian walk and Christian ministry by her parents - Deacon Thomas Stokes and the late, Elder Helen Stokes in the Church of God in Christ. Upon high school graduation, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a Broadcast Management degree from Clark Atlanta University. She graduated from Beulah Heights University with an Associate and Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Education. Later, she received her seminary training from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated with honors with a Master of Arts in Christian Education and a Master of Divinity in 2005.
The Christian experience began at an early age for Pastor Stokes. She received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of 13. It was in her teen years where she developed a passion for prayer and garnered much sensitivity to the Spirit of God. She began doing the ministry of evangelism in high school with outreach programs, soul winning efforts and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the late 70s. It wasn’t until the early 80s that she recognized her calling by God into the preached ministry of the Gospel. She was later ordained an Elder and served over a period of time as an Elder at Powerhouse of Deliverance COGIC, Christ Tabernacle Church and Woodbury Miracle Fellowship Center Church. In the early 90s, Pastor Stokes established a non-profit community outreach center, Higher Calling Outreach Ministries, in Decatur, Georgia. This center housed a food bank, clothing shelter, job bank and facilitated numerous life skills trainings for low-income families and disenfranchised communities.
While fulfilling her call as an evangelist and minister of the preached Gospel, she was also fulfilling other mandates upon her life. Pastor Stokes was also called to the ministry of radio and Gospel music. For over twenty years, she was a Gospel music broadcaster and radio programmer for radio stations – WSOK (Savannah), WCLK (Atlanta) and the Sheridan Broadcasting Network (Atlanta/Pittsburgh). For over twenty-five years she served as a gospel music record executive, producer and consultant for Atlanta International Records, Star Song Music, just to name a few. God also uses her wisdom and intellect as a contributing writer for such publications as Gospel Today Magazine and The Belle Report.
Currently she serves as Pastor of Deeper Life In Christ Ministries in Conyers, Georgia. It was in 1998 when God commissioned Pastor Stokes to launch out into the deep to start a pastoral ministry. Following the leading of the Lord, she initially opened the ministry in a small office park in Decatur, Georgia. The Lord eventually moved the ministry to Conyers, Georgia. She was consecrated as pastor of Deeper Life In Christ Ministries by Bishop Larry Trotter of Chicago, IIlinois in 2001. The Lord has established the ministry as a Bible-based, Christ-centered ministry that is focused on carrying out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ; that is, leading and helping people to have a deeper life in Christ.
Pastor Stokes is a nationally known Preacher, Author, Christian Educator and Worship Leader. As a noted homiletician, she travels extensively across the country preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. She has authored such books as What Have I Been Called To Do, Am I That Woman, The Prayer Closet and Psalms: A Preparatory Study of the Book of Psalms. She is a noted Christian Educator and Curriculum Design Specialist, having designed curriculums and instructional teaching on the subjects of Christian leadership, ministerial training, worship, prayer, preaching and music. She has garnered community service awards from the Concerned Black Clergy, GMWA as Gospel Announcer of the Year, Stellar Award, DeKalb County Community Service Award and the Rainbow Coalition God’s Trombone Award. Her voice is noted throughout the gospel music industry as a worship leader, narrator and exhorter for numerous national recording artists, such as Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Gospel Heritage Mass Choir, Rush Hour Choir, Dottie Peoples, etc.
Pastor Stokes believes that “ministry is not specifically what we are called to do, but what we were made to do.” She believes that the true platform for ministry is “the world,” the pulpit for ministry is “ourselves” and the place for ministry is “the people.” Ministry is not exclusive to a building, wall or temple, but is inclusive of everyone who breathes, lives and walks the face of this earth.
